Technical Training Session for students at UAP Civil Engineering Department

A technical training session took place in the Department of Civil Engineering on 13th and 14thMay, 2018 for the students of second year first semester. Three speakers from Crown Cement and Crown Izonil plaster delivered wonderful speeches regarding cement production, cement chemistry, concrete technology, ready-mixed concrete, and waterproofing plaster called Izonil plaster.

List of speakers of the technical session is given below:

1. Engr. Md.Shah Alam, Technical Advisor, Crown Cement Group
2. Ar. Nurul Karim Dilu, Advisor, Crown Izonil
3. Mr. Khondoker Al Mazin, Territory Officer, Crown Izonil

During the whole training session; history of cement, types of cement, cement chemistry, properties and tests of cement, and mixing criteria were discussed. A basic knowledge of Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) and their advantages were provided to the students. The most interesting part of the session was the presentation of waterproofing plaster called “Crown Izonil Plaster”. Izonil technology for plasters really amazed the students as their properties were different from the normal cement. It has been shown that the Izonil Cement plaster absorb very low amount of water than normal cement mortar which could provide extra protection from the environmental actions at all seasons such as sand blown by the wind, washing of acid rain, exposure to blazing sunlight, carbonization, and freeze-thaw, etc.

Two days of RMC factory visit is currently under the discussion for our students of the fourth year second semester and second year first semester, however, the session isn’t finalized yet.

Previously this technical training session was held on 30th December, 2017 and 20th January, 2018 for fourth year first semester students of UAP-CE.
